This competency-based course is a field-oriented training targeting those who wish to acquire skills and competencies for community wildlife management and administrations. The graduates of this course are intended to work as craftsman who provides hands on skills to respond to natural resources administration. The course allows the trainees to progress for further training.

Course Description
The course is packaged into two modules namely: -

  • Wildlife naturalist assistant
  • Community field assistant

General Objectives of the Course ​
At the end of this course the trainee should be able to:
  1. Recognize wildlife as an important resource for socio-economic development
  2. Apply concepts of wildlife conservations and management for the benefits of the present and future generations
  3. Apply skills and knowledge and attitudes to identify, conserve, manage and protect wildlife and other natural resources in wildlife conservations areas.
  4. Recognize the role and applications of information’s, communications and Technology in wildlife conservations and Management
  5. Participate in resolving and managing emerging issues in wildlife conservations and management.
  6. Conduct public education and awareness on wildlife conservations issues
  7. Initiate programs for sustainable utilizations of wild life resources.

Entry Requirements
KCSE D+ or its equivalent or D- with at least 3 years working experience in relevant field or any other qualifications recognized by WRTI Academic Board
