DIPLOMA IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
The course is intended to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable one to plan, organize, control and evaluate tourism activities, market tourism products and facilities to all domestic and international travellers and tourists in particular. As such, they will be able to perform supervisory and managerial duties to meet the needs of the ever expanding and dynamic tourism and hospitality industry; while addressing the developmental and management issues at the local, national, regional and international platform.
The course takes into account the emerging issues and trends and the challenges thereof in the tourism industry, natural resource-based tourism, impact of tourism on the environment, challenges of eco-tourism and sustainable tourism development, hotel management and hospitality services.
Course Description
The diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management course is offered in three modules namely:
- 1. Tours and Administration Module
- 2. Hospitality Supervision Module
- 3. Tourism Enterprise Development
- Marketing Module
At the end of each sub-module unit, a list of suggested teaching/learning resources, activities as well as evaluation methods has been included. This list is not exhaustive and the trainer/trainee is encouraged to utilize other resources/activities/evaluation methods deemed relevant
General Objectives of the Course

- 4. Apply skills in food production and service delivery in the tourism and hospitality sector
- 5. Execute managerial functions in the tourism, catering and hospitality areas

- 7. Observe tourism and travel health
recognize the role of information and communication technology in tourism sustainability - 8. Cope with emerging issues and trends in tourism and hospitality industry
